Informed decisions come from research!
Localization & Quantification of Foundation Piles Damage
In this report I decided to study compressive wave propagation through foundation piles with a focus on how to localize and quantify damages to the piles thanks to the wave propagation theory.
The “Beta” factor to the left is ultimately the result of the research and shows the ratio between the useful area (the area remaining after the damage) and the original area. This ratio can be used to understand the severity of the damage and also to estimate the amount of useful bearing strength left that the pile can sustain.
The future returns of the S&P500
In this report I decided to study the probable future development of the S&P500 index. The main purpose was to compare the risks of different investement periods (10, 20, 30 and 40 years).
The final result is encapsulated in the table on the left, which shows how long-term investments can be considered less risky than short term ones. The report goes into the details and studies a little less than 1000 simulated investments over a span of about 100 years.
A look at the Capital Certificate Tranche 12 from Zürich AG
This is a report I decided to write in order to study the Capital Certificate Tranche 12 from Zürich AG. The main purpose was to understand its payoff and compare it to an investment in an ETF that replicates the Swiss Market Index.
I used historical data and statistical analysis to understand the probable payoff of an investment in the SMI (considering also dividends) and then I plotted the results in the chart shown on the left. I then drew a final conclusion proposing two scenarios where I believe an investment in the Capital Certificate Tranche 12 by Zürich AG would be justified.
Pearl Diving Assignment 1
This was the first of two assignments that I wrote for the Communication class I took while Studying at the University of Maryland (during my Year Abroad at the University of Maryland).
It encapsulates many concepts I’ve learned while reading the required books (A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking, Crucial Conversations, Five Stars and Networking for College Students) as well as an Assessment of my personality performed with the DISC and Jung Personality Tests, and finally an Assessment of my Conflict Management Style.
Pearl Diving Assignment 2
This was the second of two assignments that I wrote for the Communication class I took while Studying at the University of Maryland (during my Year Abroad at the University of Maryland).
It encapsulates many concepts I’ve learned through the course, but especially while reading the book “Crucial Conversations”. In particular it shows an example of an email I would write if I was not satisfied with my team’s performance; it shows an example of how I would deal with a boss calling me “an idiot” and finally tells a personal story regarding my life which I then decided to turn into a video.
